Different Options To Buy Detroit Used Cars

By Ruppert Lerante

Looking for a new car in Detroit, MI, takes a lot of work. Firstly, how much do you want to spend on your car. Next, you need to consider what sort of car you want and decide whether you have a make and model preference. Finally, you need to decide where you will go to buy this car. You have three main options available when looking for Detroit used cars.

Your options are private seller, auction and dealer. Which one is the better option? Most people who go to a private seller do so because they think these are the cheapest cars. In actual fact, these cars rarely are the cheapest. Additionally, there are many potential dangers. It is all too easy to buy a car that is stolen, Lemon or still has finance on it. Although you could decide to run a VIN check or a vehicle history check, this isn't foolproof and it can cost both time and money. Additionally, you don't receive any kind of warranty on your new car.

So should you go to auction instead? Auctions are exciting and there is a small chance of really getting a bargain. However, there is just as much chance of getting caught up in the moment and bidding way too much.

It must also be acknowledged that you don't have time to really check out a car before deciding to bid on it, and you won't be the first to see this as a problem. Hence, although auctioneers will generally tell you if the vehicle has problems and what its history is, you will simply have to take their word for it. Last but not least, there simply aren't many great cars on offer at auction.

The final option is to go to a dealer. It is not uncommon for people to see this as a really expensive option. However, if you find a good dealer, then this isn't really the case. For instance a dealer can price their vehicles on or below the value stated in the Kelley Blue Book, and they even provide you with a link to check this.

Additionally, when you buy through a dealer, the vehicle will have been fully checked out, and it will be under warranty. Also, you can ask a dealer to sort out finance for you as well. It is clear, therefore, why all experts recommend people go to dealers if they want to purchase a new vehicles.
